Our Story

We are Amy Gonzalez and Jaycob Corn - partners in business, love, and life. Nearly a decade ago, we fell in love with Humboldt County, so we uprooted ourselves from the Central Coast and moved to Arcata to attend HSU. We are in constant awe of the beauty of the natural world here on the North Coast, and we will never stop exploring and appreciating the many opportunities we have here behind the redwood curtain.

 

We started our own homeshare Airbnb in 2016 when we were still students. Making extra income while sharing what we treasure about the area seemed like a great idea. In the years we’ve been here, we’ve made so many meaningful connections, with those in our local community as well as with many of our own short term rental guests. With Humboldt Retreats, we seek to transcend the distinction between these connections. By operating a management company that focuses on supporting our local community, while also delivering a top notch experience for guests, we cultivate a symbiotic relationship between those who live here and those who are just here for a short stay. 

 

As tourism continues to be a thriving sector of our local economy, we recognize the all-encompassing nature of being part of the unique and very special small business community here in Humboldt. We provide our guests with recommendations to our personally vetted favorite spots to eat, drink, and shop locally. We go above and beyond to provide attention to detail in every regard, and look forward to flourishing in our own small business, as well as helping homeowners like yourselves curate amazing experiences for your guests.
